Osteopathy is a manual approach intended to restore the functionality of the tissue of the human body. It considers the body as a whole through the mobilisation of bones, joints, muscles and connective tissue. This practice is based on in-depth knowledge of the health sciences and interactions specific to the balance of the body.

The osteopaths at the clinic have a special interest in treating problems related to pediatrics, urogynecology, digestion, and perinatal health. They treat men, women, pregnant women, as well as  infants/children and use a hands-on, manual treatment approach to reduce pain, increase physical mobility, and improve the circulation of blood.

Pelvic Pain

Osteopathy uses manual therapy to mobilize structures that cause pain in the pelvic and abdominal regions. Osteopaths are trained to externally manipulate the viscera, mobilize abdominal connective tissue and scar tissue. They consider the body as a whole in the treatment of pelvic pain.

Pain during Pregnancy

Osteopathy treatments throughout pregnancy can help to release tension and improve body alignment to ultimately reduce pain. Techniques are gentle and safe for both the mother and baby. Towards the end of pregnancy, osteopathy techniques can also help with preparing for delivery.

Osteopathy treatments for newborns involve easing tensions related to intrauterine life (during pregnancy) and childbirth. Osteopathic techniques are gentle and safe for infants.

The osteopath will take the baby into account as a whole (soul, body and spirit) and  treatments can help relieve common problems such as:

  • Gastroesophageal reflux
  • Colic
  • Torticollis
  • Plagiocephaly (flat head)
  • Breastfeeding difficulties

Osteopathy can help with constipation and can help restore normal function to the digestive system and related musculoskeletal structures. Osteopathy, through manipulation of the viscera (internal organs) and other structures, like muscles and ligaments in the abdomen, can improve mobility of the colon, which can improve constipation symptoms.
